Art Deco 14k White Gold and 3 DWT Diamond Panel Ring

Art Deco 14k White Gold and 3 DWT Diamond Panel Ring

Hailing from between 1920 and 1930 during the height of the Art Deco movement, this 14k white gold panel-style ring features nineteen dazzling diamonds. In total, the diamonds weigh in at well over a quarter carat at .3 ctw. Sixteen of the diamonds encircle three larger center diamonds, each of the center stones set within a square milgrain setting that accentuates the interesting geometry of the piece. The panel rests upon a filigree setting raised from squarer shoulders. The perimeter of the setting is offset by a unique prong pattern that reads like scalloping around the entire face of the ring.

The interior of the shank is stamped with a 14k mark, opposite a letter J followed by an E, which is partially obscured from nearly a century of wear. The J and E both match stamping styles used by the famed jewelry company J.E. Caldwell & Co. which was originally founded in 1839, and whose designs were leaders in the industry by the turn of the century. JEC was a competitor to other world-famous names such as Tiffany in New York and Cartier in Paris. The JE marking in this ring indicates it is likely a J.E. Caldwell piece, though the letter C has been lost to possible resizing and the expected wear from age.
