Art Deco 1.57 DWT Platinum Channel Set Diamond Wedding Band

Art Deco 1.57 DWT Platinum Channel Set Diamond Wedding Band

679.00

Inscribed with the date 1934, this Art Deco band features a brilliant row of ten diamonds channel-set within platinum. There is intricate milgrain around the perimeter of the mouth of the channel, a detail that emphasizes the faceting of the diamonds, and is very typical of fine jewelry of the era. The channel is flanked on both sides by a bulbous trefoil, raised in three dimensional form from the shoulders and cinched where it meets the channel. This design appears as a stylized floral design and is an interesting take on Deco trends that combined geometric shapes and the organicism of flora.

This band is considered a half eternity ring, defined by its half circle of diamond stones that comprise the face of the ring. The stones are very precisely cut, their faceting noticeably sparklier than other rings of comparable carat weight. The interior of the shank is inscribed with “D to J 4'18'34”, likely memorializing the wedding date of ‘D’ and ‘J’ on April 18, 1934. The order of the date suggests this ring is American in origin. This ring, though nearly a century old, is in remarkable condition, nearly mint to the eye. Its petite scale makes it ideal for stacking, perfect as a wedding band, and a unique option for a minimalist engagement ring, anniversary band or promise ring.
