Made in the mid-1940s, this diamond engagement ring features a central diamond set in a hexagonal illusion setting. The center stone is just under a quarter-carat, modest in scale yet incredibly sparkly. The shape of the setting resembles that of a stylized flower, and enlarges the appearance of the main diamond with its six points emphasizing the stone’s inherent beauty. The shoulders of this ring are in the bypass style, with two ‘wings’ flanking the center stone, both sweeping past the center stone to encircle it. Both of the wings have two side diamonds, totaling four diamonds that offset the featured diamond.

This setting appears almost floral, while still maintaining the late Art Deco geometric forms that made the movement famous. This style was popular during the 1940s and 1950s, and is interesting in that it is something of a bridge between the ornate detailing of Deco jewels and the simplified classicism of Mid-Century design. Perfect for the Deco lover and Mid-Century buff alike, this ring is polished and crisp, bright white gold with an ever so slight warm undertone as has most white gold jewelry. Dramatic from all angles, this ring is ideal for a proposal, anniversary or mother’s day gift.
