Late Art Deco .90 CTW 14k Gold and Platinum Salt and Pepper Gray Diamond Ring Dated December 1937

1,100.00

Inscribed on the shank interior with the date December 6, 1937 as well as the initials of the giver to the recipient, this Art Deco ring is surely one of a kind. Its design is that of the late Deco period, with touches of taste that dawned in the 1940s, including the square setting fashioned with four prongs that resemble florets. The center stone is markedly unusual for the era, as it is a gray diamond, charmingly speckled throughout. This kind of diamond would be classified today as a light salt and pepper stone. It is faceted into a round brilliant cut and reflects light beautifully, but boasts so much more depth and visual interest than its clearer counterparts. This incredible center diamond is a large .80 carats.

The shoulders are both adorned with a row of five channel-set diamonds, the settings accented with the most delicate milgrain around the channel’s opening. These shoulders are also angled slightly into a soft ‘v’ shape toward the center stone, an interesting geometric feature heralding from Art Deco design. The face of the ring and all eleven diamonds are set within solid platinum, while the shank tests for solid 14k yellow gold. Platinum is the most durable metal setting, perhaps the reason this piece has maintained its artful integrity so well for over 80 years.

This unforgettable ring is singular in design and taste, a testament to Deco design and the fidelity of marriage. Propose to your partner with this symbol of timelessness and dedication, and rest assured no one else on earth has this ring, just as no one else has your love.
